NKOTB Reunion News

The rumors can stop now because this information has been confirmed!

This news is for any 21 to 30+ year old woman, who, in the late 80s and early 90s, grew up listening to the pop tunes of the now famous Boston-based group.

To mark the 20th anniversary of the debut of "Hangin' Tough," original boy band predecessors, NKOTB--formerly known as New Kids on the Block--are finally getting back together! Brothers Jonathan (my favorite) and Jordan Knight, Joe McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg, and Danny Wood will be reuniting on NBC's "Today" show on Friday, April 4th!

This news has been 14 years in the making! The "Kids" all went their separate ways in 1994 (Joe and Jordan had solo music careers, Donnie became a Hollywood actor, Danny is a record producer, and Jonathan became a real estate developer), which left many female, teen-aged hearts broken.

This recent news makes us "Blockheads"--the nickname that the media dubbed the New Kids fans--all giddy inside and is bringing back fond childhood memories of the songs "(You Got It) The Right Stuff," "Please Don't Go Girl," and "Hangin' Tough."

The "Kids" will be appearing on the "Today" show to announce the release of their 'Greatest Hits' CD (featuring 4 new tracks), a new album (to be released later this year), and a possible concert tour {here's hoping that my area will be on their itinerary}!

I'm ready for the "Kids" return. Are you?! :)

Just couldn't resist

Your days are numbered, George W! I really hope someone better and smarter is elected to run this country--someone who's capable of not looking like a buffoon. May the best person win!

The Dilemma of Being Single

I recently had a conversation with a cousin of mine from So Cal, who happens to be 2 years older than me. I hadn't talked to her in a while, so our conversation was a little overdue. She discussed her problmes with men and with a certain popular, online dating web site. Some of the guys on this site tend to embellish their personal information, which really frustrates her. Some men will say that they're 40, when in fact they're 50! And might I say that a lot of men tend to post pics of themselves that are either old or are a little misleading.

I know my cousin felt comfortable speaking to me about her situation because I have been/am in the same predicament when it comes to guys. I tried online dating some years back, but I found that it just wasn't for me.

My opinion about these dating web sites are that they have their pros and cons. Some pros are that if you're very particular (i.e. picky) on who you want to meet and want to eliminate certain characteristics (i.e. non-smoker vs. non-smoker, etc.) your potential mate may possess, then these sites are for you. But based on my experience, I found more cons than pros. I personally would prefer to meet someone at a grocery store, or at a friend's house, or just by chance. The bar scene isn't an option for me either. Why is it so hard to find a decent guy, especially one who likes you for YOU, who is down-to-earth, shares similar values and interests, is honest and who doesn't play games, and one who doesn't fall for a woman twice as younger than him?

Yesterday, I had lunch with a former co-worker. She was on maternity leave during the time I was laid off from my last job, so we never got to say our good-byes. She had some work gossip to tell me, as well as wanting to share some new photos of her kids.

Towards the end of lunch, my friend asked me if I had a boyfriend yet. I told her "no" and that I honestly didn't want one at this point. I told her that all of the guys I've had feelings for have broken my heart because they were either dating someone prettier, or closer to their age, or a lot younger. I basically told her that I'm leaving everything [and this is where I sound like a broken record] in God's hands for now. Though I would prefer not to be alone for the rest of my life, I'll learn to accept what God has planned for me. If his plans don't include finding love, then maybe they'll include finding a career in writing.

As my friend and I left the Pub, I saw this event sign {see below} that describes my general feelings towards guys at the moment. And I know I'm not the only woman who thinks so too!

And for your viewing pleasure, here's a video by one of my favorite bands. Their song sums up this subject best!

Spring Break Blues

I'm on Spring Break this week and am very much enjoying my time off! However, I do have homework, which I must complete before I go back on Monday. :(

I'm currently working on a report about the Presidential candidates, but I'm having a little trouble with it. It seems like all the research data that I've found is a little redundant. I've gone to various web sites (specifically, the candidates' sites) to try to find more info., but I somehow come across similar data that I've found on other sites. I've been trying to keep my eyes and ears open for more TV news stories, but I can only tolerate so much info. until it gets to be overwhelming and then before you know it, I'm channel surfing. I knew there was a reason why I never liked politics.

A Sight for Sore Eyes

A few days ago, as I was sitting in my car in the parking lot of my college campus, I observed something rather interesting. A young woman--probably in her early 20's--was wearing these black, 5 inch heels, just like the ones in the pic below! I had never seen any woman, let alone a college student, wear "Stripper" heels before. You usually don't see these types of shoes on a girl, unless: 1) She's an actual stripper or 2) She's a "lady of the night." Needless to say, her feet/heels definitely got noticed that day!

It's a Beautiful Day

Today is such a gorgeous day. It's about 70 degrees! The last week or so, we've been having some great weather, which I'm grateful for. However, I think we're due for some rain tomorrow or Tuesday. :( I'm not a big fan of the rain. All I can say is that I'm really looking forward to summer!

I already ventured out and went for a walk/run. Now if I can only keep up my exercise routine is a different story. I need to make more time during the week to get more exercise. The problem is that I have a lot of homework and I can't seem to relax when I have school stuff going on. However, I know that if I continue working out daily, I'll stay healthy and ward off any future ailments.

The added bonus to exercising is shedding some pounds that I no longer want or need! Yesterday, I gave in to my Chinese food craving (I think the last time I ordered some was about 8+ months ago); I haven't eaten a candy bar (I love toffee) for a very long time; unfortunately, eating potato chips (Doritos "Cool Ranch"...yum! They go so well with my sandwich) isn't helping me any; and I need to give up eating breads/pastries. I really would like to learn to eat healthier, but it can be hard sometimes because food is GOOD!

The goals I'm setting right now are to exercise more and to control my food intake by eating portions. I know that in the end, it'll all be worth it! :)

Blast from the Past

I recently came across this video from the 80s. Can you guess who the singing cutie is in the dark pink shirt? Here's a clue: He became a part of this popular, Latin singing group 15 years before he was "Livin la Vida Loca"! I know, I know. The song is kind of corny and bubblegum-ish, but I've always liked it! :) Aww...memories!
